The reward of a professional win

As my first season was drawing to a close I did some work reviewing my stats. Putting was a standout issue and after missing the cut 4 consecutive times - and only by 1 or 2 shots - I was compelled to act and turn this round.

I went to see Mike Kanski at Formby Hall. Mike is a renowned specialist putting coach and has a long list of famous names and personal accreditations to his name, including several years as the lead putting coach for England Golf.

The session with Mike was a revelation. Very quickly we identified that my stroke was good so it had to be something green-related. We did some drills and work on a consistent routine. A couple of hours later my stats had already started to improve significantly. I know that listening and learning is very much part of what I have to do to continue to get better and better.

The following week, armed with this fresh approach and extra confidence, I got my first professional win, shooting 12 under par, winning by 3 shots. It was a very special day. My session with Mike and winning my first professional event has completely turned my season around. What's more, with the win, my tour card exemption is secured for 2024. It really is a game that needs every ounce of positivity and focus - I can't wait to take everything I am learning forward.
